Vibration Surveys

The Workplace Noise Assessment Company Ltd. provide full vibration risk assessment services to assess whether employees are likely to be exposed to vibration

at or above an exposure action value or

above an exposure limit value.

Alternatively,

basic vibration surveys can be undertaken

to enable employers to carry out their own risk assessment.

Vibration Surveys & Risk Assessment

Full vibration risk assessment includes consideration of:

  • The magnitude, type and duration of exposure, including intermittent vibration or repeated shocks;
  • The effects of exposure to vibration on employees whose health is at particular risk from such exposure;
  • Any effects of vibration on the workplace and work equipment, including on the handling of controls, the reading of indicators, the stability of structures and the security of joints;
  • Information provided by equipment manufacturers;
  • The availability of alternative equipment designed to reduce exposure to vibration;
  • Specific working conditions such as low temperatures;
  • Information obtained from health surveillance.

DETERMINATION OF VIBRATION EXPOSURE

In conducting risk assessment, daily exposure to vibration is assessed by means of:

  • Observation of specific working practices and conditions;
  • Reference to relevant manufacturer' s data on the probable magnitude of the vibration corresponding to use of the equipment in certain conditions;
  • Measurement or the magnitude of vibration during actual working conditions using vibration meters.
